Down Time
Posted by PJ at 06:32 AM CST
Sorry for EliteGamer.com, DragonYen.com, SkullOne.com, and fooIRC.com being down for a number of hours this evening. I upgraded Apache to fix a new exploit floating around, and as a result it crashed and didn't restart. I just caught it, and started Apache back up. My fault, sorry. (Assuming anyone actually noticed. =)

You will NEVER guess what I did over the last week.....
Posted by Skull_One at 04:59 PM CST
I hired a Yak.

Yeah, hard to believe but I have pulled it off. I am now in the position to ruin two programming careers besides my own.

I would like to welcome AnEvilYak to GLB Inc. I actually told him over 2 years ago that I would hire him when he graduated from college. He laughed back then and generally thought I was nuts. Well he was correct in one sense, I am nuts.

I now have the privilage of working with two of the best programmers out there. You can't ask for much more in a career.

I will be begging AEY to help me with TIRCDisplay coding as soon as he is up to speed with his day job. Plus with his addition, I might (to D¥s shock) actually start coding on CR (my idea of an turn based online game).

Vacation and Stuff
Posted by dragonyen at 08:22 PM CST
I'm back from Vacation, actually I have been for a couple days. Instead of trying to post news three times, I figure I'll just post collective news and move on with my night. Over at DragonYen.Com you will see that I have updated MyDebt page. I will start working on fooIRC again this weekend. And for those of you looking at EliteGamer.Com check out the babyDragonCam.

fooProgress

Hey guys. I just wanted to give a quick update. DragonYen ran off on vacation, so development on fooIRC is on hold until he gets back.

On a bright note, with any luck (and repeated email spam) S1 might have TIRCDisplay done by the time DY gets back next week. =)

Beta 17
Posted by PJ at 11:07 PM CST
Beta 17 was just posted to the Beta testers. It's the build with the interface shown below. It has way to many fixes to list here.

Soon I'm going to add some sidebar stuff. One of the things I intend on addinging is a changelog so all the changes can be viewed there.

fooIRC In Action!
Posted by PJ at 05:17 PM CST
Ok guy's, here it is. The first (public) screen shot of fooIRC in action.

 Click me!

None of the icon's are final yet, they are just the best we have at the moment.

The current color scheme is also not going to be the fooIRC default. It is just what I use for day to day use. It is of course 100% customizable.

We will be looking at a public beta as soon as TIRCDisplay is finished and integrated into foo.

New logo
Posted by PJ at 03:18 PM CST
I put a new logo on the page, something I did in photoshop in about 2 minutes. It's going to be the installers splash screen. I also changed the green on the news posts from mucus green, to logo green. Since Old_One is MIA at the moment, I still have to get his approval on it.

Later today I'm going to post a screen shot of the current fooIRC interface. I like it. =)

TIRCDisplay

Ok guys, be very very quiet. We currently have Skull_One actually working on it! No kidding! He really is! Don't make any loud sounds, it might distract him from the task at hand. Shhh! =)

New build up
Posted by dragonyen at 10:46 PM CST
Some of the things I fixed...

*** Fixed Problem with "CONNECTED" being set AFTER running the on connected commands. However this caused a problem if someone tried to set their nick during ONCONNECT.

*** #052 - Kill's properly disconnect you. I didn't actually fix this now... I assume it got fixed when INDY was implemented.

*** #420 - Turning off LagMeter will stop sending LagChecks now.

*** #393 - User definable "long-line" Break.

*** #220 - Option to turn off Ident After all requests are answered.

*** #417 - Incoming DCC Chats are no longer ignored. This doesn't mean that they will work :)

*** Got /LINKS working again... /LIST still needs to be done.

*** Parsing the modes manually for voice/op again. Indy has a bug that I don't feel like tracking down right now.

*** Fixed Hang problem when connecting to certain servers, that had more params in a message than you are supposed to have... so says the RFC anyhow.

If you don't know what those numbers are, they are the bug numbers in my bug tracker... not a big deal, but in case you wondered ;)

Gavionne- is evil!
Posted by PJ at 12:30 AM CST
That's right folks, you heard it here first. Gavionne- is evil. You see, it looks like his name has been breaking fooIRC somehow. DY isn't sure how yet, but DetectiveYen is on the case. (This is not to be confused with the !barney feature added in for Skull_One, as a birthday gift.) Once we find out how Gavionne- has inserted this devious bug into fooIRC, he shall be dealt with!

;)

INDY...
Posted by dragonyen at 04:12 PM CST
Long ago, in this very seat I sit... CD said "Use INDY, it rocks..." - While INDY as a whole may be very nice.. the TIdIRC component is FULL of bugs. Luckily I'm helping fix them. Today I took a day off of working on foo, and Fixed all but 1 of the INDY bugs that I currently know about... and I emailed the fixed file to them. Actually this will be very important when the next version comes out, because I will need to be able to just compile the new version, and continue on with development... but since I have made so many changes, it wouldn't work that well if I didn't get them using all the improvements I have made.

I made it so that you can have IDENT turn On/Off only while connecting... I'll be interested to know if this works correctly.. so testers let me know ;)

I finally got my domain name.
Posted by Skull_One at 11:56 AM CST

One more thing on my todo list is now done. I finally aquired skullone.com. Now to tackle the next 100+ things on my list. This week I will be doing the following: a Game Cube review for the next 7 days for elitegamer.com (I plan to spend 30 mins on each one), working On TIRCDisplay for 1.5 hour each night for fooirc.com and make some SyQuest Syjet boot disks for my older games that are starting to fail under Win2k and DX8 (about 30 mins per cartridge).

Probably next Sunday I will start working on my website and adding all my personal stuff to it. Things like, CCGs (15) and board games (80+) that I like to play. (Yet another) Link list of the sites I visit every day. As well as a lot of other boring stuff.

Heck if TIRCDisplay is actually working in the next week, I might even start on Project X this month. Since the game design is primarly done, I should be able to start coding it once D¥ says "It's about time".
